The American Gentleman Pullen Laws — Law 1, an open law book with a gavel

Arena: The Becoming · Challenge — from The American Gentleman Pullen Laws.

Don’t dim your light. Change the room you’re standing in.

Paris’s translation

Here’s what that means in practice. If a room needs you smaller to stay comfortable, the room is telling on itself — not you.

Most men get this backwards. They read the room and edit themselves down to fit it. The master reads the room and decides whether the room deserves him.

You don’t owe any room a dimmer version of you. Not the job, not the circle, not the family table. If your brightness is the problem, change your address, not your wattage.

A master has no master — which means nobody gets a vote on your light.
